ADESSO ACQUIRES OMNI:US

TO BRING AI INTO THE CORE OF INSURANCE

The acquisition lays the foundation for further developing omni:us’ AI-powered claims automation, already proven in production, and progressively integrating it as a native capability within the in|sure Ecosphere.

adesso SE, one of Europe’s leading providers of insurance-specific software and technology solutions, has acquired Berlin-based omni:us, a specialist in AI-powered claims processing.
The transaction combines adesso’s extensive insurance and software expertise with omni:us’ highly specialized AI technology, already deployed by insurers internationally. Together, the companies aim to help insurers systematically transform both their processes and underlying application landscapes around AI.
adesso also plans to progressively integrate omni:us technology into its core insurance platform, the in|sure Ecosphere, which is already used by more than 50 customers. omni:us solutions will be further developed and expanded as a central component of the combined portfolio for insurance AI.
The joint product strategy addresses two fundamental market requirements.
First, specialized AI capabilities will increasingly be embedded directly into insurance products and workflow solutions, creating ready-to-deploy solutions for insurers. This will give customers immediate access to automation capabilities for claims, underwriting and additional insurance use cases.
Second, customers will be able to develop, integrate and operate their own or third-party AI agents within a controlled agentic layer. This layer is designed to enable different AI agents to operate within clearly defined processes, access rights and control mechanisms.
The broader strategic ambition is to provide insurers with the technological foundation to evolve into AI-first organizations. Future insurance architectures should do more than record and execute transactions. They should interpret information, connect data across systems and prepare decision intelligence and actions within clearly defined parameters.

“Artificial intelligence does not become part of the insurance core simply by adding another application alongside existing systems,” says Andreas Nolte, Managing Director Insurance Business Solutions at adesso. “It has to be connected to the systems, data and control mechanisms insurers use to run their business. With omni:us, we are gaining proven, production-grade AI for claims together with the specialized expertise required to embed intelligence directly into the core insurance landscape.”

“Claims is where artificial intelligence has to prove that it can perform reliably under real financial, regulatory and operational conditions,” says Thomas Hauschild, CEO of omni:us. “We have spent ten years building that capability. Together with adesso, we can make it accessible to a significantly broader insurance market, integrate it more deeply into core systems and extend the same rigorous approach to further insurance processes.”

The acquisition also increases the share of proprietary software within adesso’s insurance portfolio and expands its ability to offer existing customers additional AI-powered solutions. omni:us, in turn, gains access to adesso’s market reach, insurance expertise, and implementation and scaling capabilities.

SCALING, CONTINUITY AND RESPONSIBLE AI

Through the acquisition, adesso strengthens its insurance business with proprietary AI technology, an established product organization, specialized domain expertise and international customer relationships. At the same time, omni:us gains access to adesso’s market presence and its extensive capabilities in insurance, integration, implementation and scaling.

The omni:us team will play a central role in the continued development and commercialization of the combined insurance AI portfolio. Its products, expertise and customer relationships will continue within the adesso Group under the omni:us brand.

Existing omni:us customers will continue to be supported within their current product and technology environments, with the existing solutions actively developed further. At the same time, they will gain access to adesso’s broader insurance, integration, implementation and scaling capabilities.

adesso customers will gain access to AI technology for claims processing that is already proven in production. These capabilities will be progressively integrated into adesso’s existing portfolio for core insurance systems and insurance transformation.

The joint product strategy will remain firmly aligned with the requirements of regulated insurance processes. These include explainability, human oversight, operational reliability, data protection, information security and full traceability.

Automation will be applied wherever process structure, available information and the underlying risk profile allow it. In complex cases, or where decisions may have significant consequences, AI will prepare the relevant information, context and decision basis for the responsible insurance professional.

Decision-making authority will remain with humans wherever professional, legal or regulatory requirements demand it.

The objective is not autonomy without accountability, but greater operational performance built on clear responsibilities and transparent, auditable controls.
